General Details
The 2025 MAA/LAS joint annual meeting will be held at the Clarion Suites in Vidalia, Louisiana, from Friday, February 21, until Sunday, February 23, 2025. There will be an informal reception on Friday evening from 7:00-8:30 pm in the bar at the Clarion Suites. From 8 am until 5 pm Saturday there will be papers given by avocational, professional, and student archaeologists. Papers will be 15 minutes each, and the room will be equipped with a computer and a projector for Powerpoint presentations. If you would like to present, please email a title and abstract to Adam Fuselier (MAA) at adam.fuselier@usda.gov or Samuel Huey (LAS) at shuey@chronicleheritage.com by February 13, 2025.  Students who present a paper will be eligible for a reduced meeting registration fee.  Make sure to note that in your submission email so we can send you a special link.
On Saturday evening, February 22, we will have a catered reception and a keynote address in the Clarion Suites Ballroom. Dr. Megan Crandal Kassabaum will be the featured speaker. Her talk is titled "On Elevated Ground: Interpreting 7,500 Years of Platform Use in the Lower Mississippi Valley." The registration fee covers general meeting attendance as well as a catered lunch and admittance to the reception/keynote. There will be heavy hors d'oeuvres and a open bar at the reception/keynote.

On Sunday morning, February 23, a guided tour will take place. Dr. Vin Steponaitis will be leading the group to three Plaquemine mound sites and the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. Please make plans to join us for this exciting event!
We have made arrangements for a block of rooms with the Clarion Suites, which is hosting the event. The Clarion Suites (318-336-1655) has a meeting rate of $103/night+tax for a city-facing suite with either two queen beds or one king bed, and $112/night+tax for a river-facing single king or double queen room.
